Does Acai Berry Really Work?
Acai Berry is the latest craze in weight loss. I’ve found about 7 million search results on Google, advertising Acai Berry at the time of writing this post. What is it and how does it work? Acai berries are fruits produced by palm trees in Central and South America. Acai Berry comes in different forms, juice, powder or fresh berry. They supposed to be highly nutritious and used in weight loss in large scale. Celebrities such as Oprah and Rachel Ray have supported them in the media.
Studies have shown that acai is indeed nutritious and has antioxidant properties. However when the fruit is processed, stored and the length of time until the fruit is actually used will affect its potency. Studies showed that acai is not very stable once it’s picked. So how do you know that the Acai Berry you’ve purchased will have all the nutritious qualities you paid for.
Acai berry is high in antioxidants. Antioxidants help us maintain good health by eliminating free radicals that can cause cell damage. Many vitamins, including vitamin C act as antioxidants too. Also foods such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, currants and many others are good source of antioxidants.
Unless you are sure that your acai supplement is good quality, there are easier ways to increase your antioxidant intake. Eating local fresh food has more antioxidant than an old and weak acai supplement and it’s easier to get and less expensive.
